If you have time, it is well worth tagging on a day or two to explore the city and its surroundings. For tips on what to do in Leiden city, see the local tourist board website. Our tip: Visit the Young Rembrandt Studio, where you can learn about Rembrandt van Rijn’s early life and have your picture taken in Rembrandt style, as a unique souvenir!
There is also plenty more to do in the surrounding area. Leiden is a great jumping-off point for the larger cities of the Hague, Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Utrecht. Or if you don't mind the bracing November wind, head to the nearby coast, where you can experience stunning sandy beaches, and the unique Hollandse Duinen national park.
